The Battus polydamas, commonly known as the Polydamas Swallowtail, is a beautiful butterfly species found in North and South America. This large-sized butterfly has a wingspan of about 100mm and is easily recognizable by its black wings with iridescent blue-green markings and yellow spots.
The Polydamas Swallowtail is commonly found in a variety of habitats including forests, fields, and gardens, where it feeds on nectar from a variety of flowers. The caterpillars of this species feed on plants in the Aristolochiaceae family, which contain toxic compounds that make the caterpillars unpalatable to predators.
